Repeat Patterns

It's been over a month since my last post!  Where did the time go?  Learning Illustrator 2 by Laura Coyle has been helpful since it has several lessons on repeat patterns.  Actually doing it for my own work has been a slow process but I'm moving along.  Here are a few that are finished for now.

Paper Clip

The unusual curves and lines of the Ephemera Clip intrigued me.  One thing led to another and was surprised to see a Valentine sentiment.

Took a break from the computer and played around with painting my Tassles motif.

Illustrator and Kuler

So I'm getting the hang of Illustrator although there's much more to learn.  Like Laura Coyle says, "it's a deep program".  I'm pleased though that there are no more pixels so be seen!  I've been having fun with Kuler which is a Adobe color site that is imbeded in Illustrator CS5. 

Illustrator

As painful as it is to learn a new program, I realized that knowing Illustrator is pretty essential for the type of art I am doing. Illustrator is a vector based drawing program which will result in clean, crisp lines as opposed to Photoshop which is pixel based.  Hopefully, the learning curve will be easier since I already know Photoshop!  Laura Colye's tutorial is great so far.  She is a successful license artist, Illustrator online teacher and a jazz singer - so many talents! (www.lauracoyle.com)

Lacey Whirls

I couldn't help but play around with the Star Images from Christmas.  Now it's a new year.  Looking forward to getting back to my studio!
